Turkey Contractors Association Building have been constructed inside
of 1.195 m2 land area ( 6.900 m2 gross building area ) in Ankara’s
county of Çankaya under employership of MESA MESKEN SANAYİ A.Ş.

In terms of the building’s design, Turkey Contractors Association’s
principle of institutional transparency’s readability in structure has
been aimed and accordingly as both fictional and structural device
transmissivity is based on indoor and outdoor spaces. In this regard,
while continuation of public realm is provided in structure’s ground
level with the functions which bring into connection with urban
fabric, in atrium , which procures structure’s main set up, it brings
the visual connection between the floors inside the building from
ground floor to office fields. As long as going higher, It ends with
the roof made of glass by looking out for privacy of management floor
and hall areas.

Besides, the project embodies the systems which are being used in
Turkey for the first time in terms of passive heating and cooling
techniques. Ankara’s typical climatic characteristhic as temperature
difference between night and daytime used to minimize the energy
consumption in heating and cooling, a ferroconcrete labyrinth have
been built to the bottom of the basement floor’s parking areas. In the
summer months, this labyrinth acts as a battery which helps to cool
down passively the daytime air by accumulating the night heat. In
winter, it uses underground’s specific heat then passively conditions
the daytime air. Chilled Beams which are being used in Turkey for the
first time will be controlled to help for the last heating/cooling
when necessary, to comfort the ambient conditions.

In frontage the front shell consists of 2 layers. The first layer
which packs the structure is a classic glass to glass with melding
panel system, second layer is the stainless steel ‘mesh’ which
provides the solar control and shadowing. Intensity of this
sensitively designed layer’s have been calculated to prevent heat
recovery based upon the sun by optimizing the gaps according to
dispositions, without intercepting the residents contact with outside.

The project which owns LEED Platinum certificate is an integrated
design product which coordinates all disciplines in the leadership of
architecture, experiences, surveyings, contributes to the development
of the construction and material sector in Turkey by making
research-development studies and encourages the usage of local
materials.
